Combat History

Named for the founder and first president of the Joseon Union, Jung Do Suk, Jung's Brigade is widely considered to be the premier heavy assault unit in the galaxy. The brigade currently consists of a regiment of fast attack mobile armors (1st Taehwa) to counter enemy MAs and general infantry, a regiment of airborne cavalry (2nd Samhan) to conduct recce, spearheads, and close air support, and three regiments of main battle tanks (1st and 7th Joseon, 3rd Silla) to deliver the knockout punch.

Also known as "the Red Devils" for their distinctive red berets, this illustrious brigade is one of its nation's flagship units, and consistently attracts many of the best officers and enlisted personnel in the Army of Joseon. Jung's Brigade also draws many allied officers eager for elite cavalry field experience, and, since the First Unification War, the brigade XO has typically been an Akashan. The Red Devils proudly trace their lineage back to the legendary Joseon Brigade, of which the 1st Joseon Armored Cavalry was a part.

Since that time, the Red Devils have been involved in many of the Known Sphere's most dramatic and pivotal cavalry engagements. For example, at the Battle of Durin's Pass, the Allies needed to take this key pass but faced a lethal bottleneck guarded by entrenched Federal infantry and artillery. The brigade, assisted by the Corvian SRS, navigated a nearly hidden and highly treacherous route around the Terrans to strike at their rear. In the ensuing panic, nearly half the blue suits fled, and the main allied force (primarily elements of the Corvian First Corps and Akashan Seventh Corps) crushed the remaining Terrans while sustaining stunningly light casualties themselves.

Notable Members

General of the Army Park Seong-gye

Brilliant, charismatic, and ruthless, judged by some to be delusional at times (he considered himself a reincarnation of Hannibal and Patton) and a borderline sociopath, Park Seong-gye is also deemed by many as the finest cavalry commander of the First Unification War, much of which he spent commanding the Red Devils.

General Park began his career as one of the original volunteers of the 1st Joseon Armored Cavalry, and distinguished himself during the Akashan War of Independence, rising to the rank of captain. In 2087, he was appointed chief cavalry instructor at the Joseon War College, where he is credited with developing many of the tactics that helped to counter the growing battlefield dominance of mobile armored infantry. When the First War broke out, he was appointed commander of his old regiment, and later took command of the whole brigade after Brigadier General Choi Jae-kyu was killed in action.

It was under Park that the Red Devils' first established their uncanny reputation for showing up at exactly the right time to break the opposition, contributing substantially to victories at Neo Cannae, the Five Forks, Lake Cambrai, and Kharkov, the last being one of the largest armored engagements of all time. After Kharkov, when asked about the battle, the general merely echoed a quote of Julius Casear, "Veni, vidi, vici," which has since become the motto of the brigade.
