The Captain

While it has different meanings in other contexts (e.g., military), as an astronautical term, "Captain" is traditional customary title given to the officer in charge of ship. The keptin's main job is to command, though on smaller wessels, she often double-hats as pilot or navigator. On legal documents, the keptin is referred to as the ship's Master, and most commercial keptins have a Master Astromariner's certificate.

Remember, the ship's Master is exactly that. The MASTER of that wessel. Keep in mind or you might find yourself tossed out airlock as many of them take this quite literally. I havink to do this several times myself. As the commander of a ship under way, in international law, a keptin has enormous lawful powers, including right to use deadly force to suppress piracy and mutiny.
 

Fire

Fire on spaceship is wery, wery bad. Worse than gulag, a deranged bear, and your mother-in-law, COMBINED. Space is one place where No Smoking violation is beink punishable by death. In addition to whatever damage it causes itself, fire uses up your breathable. Wery hard to operate ship while holdink breath, especially for several days.

Checking the fire fighting equipment and systems is wital, and should be done at least once before each trip out. Also, ships are built as fireproof as possible, but a good keptin will still assign a crewmember to make sure flammable materials are quickly and properly disposed of.
